GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The W&J track and field team earned four first place finishes and put together several other strong performances Wednesday at the Grove City Mini-Meet, which was hosted in Mercer County.
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) continued his strong debut season by finishing first in the 800 Meters. Paul crossed the line with a career-best time of 1:56.98, which ranks as the third fastest time by a PAC competitor in the event this season.
Jake Sinclair (Beallsville, Pa./Beth-Center) placed third in the event with a time of 1:59.64, which is a season-best and puts him fifth in the conference.
Nate Sciarro (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) claimed the top spot in the Long Jump. Sciarro registered a career-best leap of 7.04 meters, which puts him first on the PAC performance list. That jump puts him 23rd in NCAA Division III. Sciarro added a first place finish in the Triple Jump with a career-best mark of 12.81 meters.
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) secured a pair of runner-up finishes. Baughman was second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.82) and second in the 400-meter hurdles (56.57). His time in the 400 was a career best and ranks him second on the PAC performance list.
Daniel Deal (Butler, Pa. / Knoch) registered a third place performance in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Deal finished with a time of 10:36.27.
Savannah Sevacko (Crafton, Pa. / Carlynton) highlighted the performances for the women's team. Sevacko placed first in the Triple Jump with a leap of 10.82 meters.
Anna Stroup (Port Royal, Pa. / Juniata) completed a busy day, as the sophomore competed in three events. Stroup was the runner up in the 100 Meters (13.32) and the 100-meter hurdles (16.75). Stroup was sixth in the 200 Meters with a time of 28.65.
Faith Remich (New Kensington, Pa./Burrell) placed third in the 800 Meters at 2:24.08.
Bre Trusler (Daisytown, Pa./California) placed third in the 200 Meters (27.80) and fourth in the 100 Meters (13.95).
W&J heads to the Thiel Invitational on Saturday, April 16.
