ALLIANCE, Ohio –
Jadyn Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) needed a strong showing to aid her hopes of qualifying for the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The senior rose to the occasion Thursday evening during the Mount Union Last Chance Meet, turning in a performance that puts her in position to do just that.
Hartner won the 400 Hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:02.55. That time vaults her into 15th currently among Division III competitors in the event. The top 22 in the event will qualify for next week's NCAA Championships in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Hartner is seeking her first trip to an NCAA Championship event.
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) finished second in the 400 Hurdles. Baughman timed in at 53.36 on Thursday. Baughman currently sits in 24th among D-III competitors in the event.
Cassie Carr (Girard, Pa./Girard) and
Nate Sciarro (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) both capped memorable careers in the Red and Black. Both have reached the pinnacle during their careers at W&J by reaching respective NCAA Championships during their stays in Washington.
On Thursday, Carr was second in the 1500 Meters with a time of 4:49.55. Sciarro was the runner up in the Long Jump at 6.79 meters at Thursday's event.
A final list of qualifiers will become official on Friday at 8 p.m.
