WASHINGTON, Pa. --
Manny Dovshek, a recent Washington & Jefferson College graduate and familiar face to the wrestling program, has been named its Intern Assistant Coach for the 2022-23 academic year.
Dovshek will begin his duties assisting head coach
Tommy Prairie on August 1.
"When we were given this position Manny was my first call," Prairie said. "I am excited about the impact he is going to continue to have on our program going forward in this role."
Dovshek enjoyed a strong collegiate career as a member of the Presidents. Despite losing a full season to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dovshek finished with an overall record of 53-27.
He compiled 36 pins during his career, a total which ranks as fifth most in program history. His 19 pins as a freshman tied for the second most in a single-season in program history.
"Manny was a great leader and mentor when he came to W&J and further developed those traits over his four years," Prairie stated. "He was the perfect example of the core values we look for in our student-athletes over his four years in our program."
Dovshek claimed the PAC Championship at 125 pounds with a pair of pins at the championship meet his sophomore season in 2019-20. He was one of five individual champions as the Presidents claimed their first PAC team title since 1999. As a freshman in 2018-19, Dovshek earned PAC Rookie of the Week honors three times.
Dovshek received his undergraduate degree in Marketing from W&J in May of 2022.
