WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College Wrestling team wrapped their first multi-dual day of the season at the Waynesburg Duals on Sunday (Nov. 17). The team walked away winless dropping bouts to Lycoming, Mount Union and Penn State Behrend.
 
Lycoming 30, W&J 20
The Presidents dropped a 30-20 decision to commence their three-match day against Lycoming. Josh Smith (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra Area) and Hunter Swedish (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) picked up back-to-back pins in the early going. Smith pinned Jaciah Whitcomb in 6:43 minutes at 133 while Swedish pinned Shane Perry in 4:28 minutes at 141.
 
Jiovanni DeChicchis (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) snagged a win by decision over Wyatt Frawley (4-2) in the 165-pound weight class. Jaden Fields (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) capped of the wins in the first dual of the day for the Presidents. Fields won by tech fall against Nick Parrella (15-0, 3:27).
 
Mount Union 40, W&J 13
The Presidents were stonewalled against the Purple Raiders, logging just three victories in the matchup. Swedish registered his second victory of the day at the 141-pound weight class with a win by major decision over Mason McCarty (11-1).
 
At the 174-pound weight class, Joshua Searle (Red Creek, N.Y./Red Creek Central) picked up a win by decision over Nathaniel Johnson (14-8). John Starusko (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) capped the Presidents scoring with a win by forfeit.
 
Penn State Behrend 38, W&J 18
Brandon Dami (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) picked up his first victory of the season with a pin against the Lions at the 125-pound weight class. Smith also picked up his second victory of the day, this time in the 141-pound weight class by fall. Christian McChesney (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg-Salem) wrapped the Presidents' scoring with a pin in the heavyweight match.
