WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College wrestling team remained undefeated in Presidents' Athletic Conference following their 48-4 victory over the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets on the Presidents senior recognition night.
 
W&J lifts their dual record to 3-0 in conference bouts while moving to 4-7 overall on the season. Waynesburg slips to 0-4 in PAC matches and 3-13 overall.
 
After picking up two forfeit victories to start the night, Hunter Swedish (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) got to work quick for the Presidents, logging at win at 141 pounds. Swedish defeated Connor Graser of the Yellow Jackets by tech fall (21-6, 2:30).
 
W&J added their third forfeit victory to push the score to 23-0 prior to a hard-fought match at 157 pounds by sophomore standout Casey Smith (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata). Smith bested Seth Evans of the Yellow Jackets by decision, 7-3.
 
Senior Joshua Searle (Red Creek, N.Y./Red Creek Central) logged a back-and-forth victory by major decision over Waynesburg's AJ Tomaino, 19-9.
 
Wrapping up the W&J victories for the night, was senior Trevor Manley (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) in the 285 heavyweight class. Manley logged the first pin on the night over Jaron Polk of the Yellow Jackets (4:18).
 
Senior Adam Zerbee (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) logged a pin over Kevin Willis of Yellow Jackets (4:18).
 
Seniors Matthew Gariano (Del Haven, N.J./Middle Township), Jaizik Sanabria (Solomons, Md./Paxtuxent), Swedish, Searle, Manley and Zerbee were all honored prior to the bout.
 
The Presidents return to the mat next Thursday (Jan. 30) to face the Saint Vincent. First bout is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
