THE SERIES: The Washington & Jefferson Presidents host the Bethany Bison for the 101st matchup between the schools on the gridiron. The Presidents hold a 79-21 advantage and have won 40 out of the last 41 meetings with the Bison, including each of the last ten matchups. The last Bethany win over W&J came on October 5, 2013, when the Bison won 24-19. Bethany's last win in Washington came back in the 1982 season.
RICH TRADITION: The Washington & Jefferson football program has won 801 games in its 132-year history (801–409–40), ranking third among NCAA Division III schools behind Mount Union (88) and Wittenberg (809). Wabash (737) and Widener (737) round out the D-III top five. Across all NCAA divisions, the Presidents' win total places them 22nd all-time. The program's 28 PAC titles stand as the most in league history and its 28 NCAA Playoff appearances are the third-most among Division III schools. W&J football also holds a streak of 42 consecutive winning seasons, the third longest active streak of its kind trailing only Linfield (69) and Mount Union (47).
HOME SWEET HOME: The Presidents have won 63 of their last 69 games at home, boasting a .913 winning percentage. W&J has won six straight home games, with the last loss at Cameron Stadium coming on September 6, 2025, against Utica.
STARTING OUT SHARP: Junior
Andrew Sharp (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) put together another dominant performance last week against Geneva, rushing for 143 yards and two touchdowns while adding another score on a reception. Mike Sirianni when leading at halftime, posting a 163–6 record (.965) in such games.

COUNT ON DA'JAHN: Presidents' cornerback
Da'Jahn Telfair (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) picked up his first career interception against Geneva last week. The junior played a role in quieting a Golden Tornadoes passing attack that entered the game ranked 12th in Division III with 315 yards per game. Geneva was held well below that average with just 32 passing yards. Telfair has added two pass break ups on the season.
HAPPY HOMECOMING: W&J is 10-1 in its last 11 Homecoming games. The lone loss in that time came on September 28, 2024, against Carnegie Mellon.
ON THE AIR WITH WJPA: Since the 1984 season opener, Bob Gregg has been the voice of W&J football on WJPA Radio. During that span, the Presidents have recorded more than 300 wins, a winning percentage above .800, 27 PAC titles, and two Stagg Bowl appearances. Gregg and longtime broadcast partner Mark Uriah were honored in 2023 with the Dow Carnahan Media Award at PAC Football Media Day. Uriah has since retired from the booth, while Gregg returns for his 43rd season covering W&J football. Gregg will be joined by
Jack Sacco and his father John Sacco, who was the 2025 Carnahan Award recipient.
BOYCE WILL BE BOYCE: Sophomore defensive tackle
Alex Boyce (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) earned a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week for the second straight week. He becomes the first President to earn the honor in back-to-back weeks since Dawson Dietz '25 did so during the 2024 season. It is just the fourth time in program history any player has done so, with Jesse Zubik '18 and Andrew Wolf '21 also going back-to-back at points in their careers. Boyce's 1.38 sacks per game are tied for eighth in Division III.
THE NEW KID IN TOWN: With a start last week against Geneva,
Braylon Wagner (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank Valley) became the first freshman quarterback to start for W&J since Pete Coughlin in the 2013 season. In his maiden start, the newcomer completed 16 of 24 pass attempts for 218 yards and four touchdowns. The numbers came in the first 35 minutes of the game, as Wagner was relieved with the game out of reach early in the third quarter. The freshman was named PAC Newcomer of the Week for his performance.
GROUND AND POUND: The Presidents rushed for 355 yards against Geneva last week, making it the second consecutive game where W&J passed the 300-yard rushing threshold after totaling 341 rushing yards the previous week, against CWRU, marking the first time in the
Mike Sirianni-era that the Presidents have reached the milestone in back-to-back games. The performance was just the 17th time that W&J reached the 300-rushing yard milestone under Sirianni. The Presidents scored four times on the ground against the Golden Tornadoes, extending the program's streak to 30 consecutive games with a rushing touchdown.
SCOUTING BETHANY: Bethany comes to Washington with a 2-3 overall record, and 1-2 conference mark. The Bison are led by an offense that averages 30.4 points per game. The passing attack has been the offense's strength, averaging 269.2 yards per game, which ranks 31st in the division.
The Bison average 41.2 points allowed per game, which is 22nd most in the nation. Bethany has allowed at least 37 points in four of its five matchups, including a matchup where Baldwin Wallace totaled 84 points on the Bison.
Another notable mark is that Bethany has averaged 15.6 penalties per game and 140.4 penalty yards per game, which are each the most in Division III. Bethany averages 4.4 more penalties and 31.9 more marked-off yardage per game than the next closest team in each category.
