Edward (Eddie) Nogay ’14 became just the second pitcher in W&J baseball history to be selected an All-American after being chosen to the 2013 ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com All-America teams.
Nogay set the school record with 28 pitching victories and finished his amazing career with a 28-2 record on the mound. He won the first 16 decisions of his career and tied the school record with six shutouts. Nogay pitched 268 career innings (2nd all-time at W&J), struck out 162 batters (4th in school history), and posted a 2.59 earned-run average (3rd at W&J).
His 12 victories during the 2013 season remains as the single-season W&J record. The 12th victory came during five innings of relief in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional in Terre Haute, Indiana. Nogay struck out six Thomas More hitters in an 11-8, 15-inning triumph over the Saints. The game, which extended the Presidents’ season, lasted five hours and two minutes and completed at 1:47 am local time.
W&J won the 2013 PAC Championship and his teams won four NCAA regional games. The Presidents also captured the PAC regular-season title during all four years of his career. A four-time All-PAC selection and two-time PAC Pitcher of the Year, Nogay led W&J to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.
In the 2012 regionals, Nogay fired a complete game shutout as W&J blanked Wooster 8-0 in Marietta, Ohio. A year later, he earned a pair of NCAA regional triumphs, including tossing 8 1/3 innings during a 5-3 win over Illinois Wesleyan.
Nogay capped off his career by being selected a recipient of the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. He graduated with a degree in English and a minor in psychology.
