Mike Chiodo ’05 remains the most prolific goal scorer in W&J men’s soccer history. He still owns the school records of 45 goals, 26 assists, and 116 points he produced from 2001-2004.
Chiodo started his career quickly as a freshman with a 15-goal season, in which six counted as game-winning goals. He followed that performance up with a 34-point sophomore season with 11 goals and 12 assists. The 2003 season was a memorable one as Chiodo fired home both goals for the Presidents in a 2-0 PAC championship win over Grove City. He scored the first goal in the 29th minute and then added the final goal two minutes into the second half. The conference championship was the first for W&J since the program joined the PAC in 1970.
Chiodo added a goal in the first round of the 2003 ECAC Tournament as the Presidents made just their second postseason appearance in school history.
The Presidents were the favorites to capture the PAC title once again in 2004 and Chiodo and his teammates delivered with another 2-0 shutout win in the conference title game against Bethany. Chiodo totaled 17 points in his final collegiate season and helped W&J knock off Penn State-Altoona in the ECAC Tournament for the first postseason win in school history. Chiodo’s teams won 47 games in four years, including a 26-9-3 record in PAC matches.
He was a four-time All-PAC selection and the 2003 PAC Player of the Year.
