Ron Snee ’63 was a standout on the pioneering Washington & Jefferson College wrestling teams from 1959-1963.  Following a long hiatus, the College re-introduced wrestling as a varsity sport in 1958.  Snee and his teammates set the bar for future wrestling success by capturing the College’s first-ever Presidents’ Athletic Conference wrestling championship in 1962.  That moment also marked the first PAC title in any sport at the College.

As a senior, Snee capped an incredible career by winning the 147-pound conference title.  That championship made him the fifth W&J wrestler in history to win a PAC crown. His 42-10-1 career record was highlighted by a 14-0 senior campaign and the outstanding wrestler award.

A four-year starter and letter winner, Snee never missed a match (or even one practice) during his career, while wrestling in three different weight classes (147, 157, 167).  In dual matches, he contributed 131 points for W&J while giving up only 20 points.

During Snee’s final two seasons, he garnered a 26-3 combined record and was a leading force for the 1962 PAC Championship Team.  Snee is the second member of that championship team to earn induction into the W&J Athletic Hall of Fame, joining Pat McCormick ’62.  The Presidents also finished as the PAC runner-up in both 1961 and 1963.

Snee graduated from Washington & Jefferson with a degree in mathematics.  After receiving his Ph.D. in applied and mathematical statistics from Rutgers University, he was appointed to the faculty at Rutgers, later moving to the DuPont Company where he worked for 24 years prior to starting his management consulting career.

Snee has been elected Fellow of American Association for Advancement of Science, American Statistical Association, American Society for Quality and the International Academy for Quality. A prolific author he has co-authored five books, published more than 270 articles and made more than 330 presentations at professional meetings. He is the recipient of more than 25 major awards and honors from professional societies.
