Hall of Fame
One of the most decorated champions in W&J wrestling history, Jayson Hobbs ’00 graduated with a degree in business administration and management.
Hobbs is one of nine wrestlers in school history to twice (1999, 2000) be selected as a National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American. He is one of only 16 wrestlers in W&J history to claim at least three Presidents’ Athletic Conference individual wrestling titles. As a sophomore, he claimed the 142-pound title following a 20-10 season before bumping up to the 149-pound class for his second title in 1999.
That junior season he compiled a 22-9 overall record. His three-year run as conference champion culminated during the 2000 championship as moved up to 174 pounds, posted a 26-5 record, and was selected as the PAC Most Outstanding Wrestler.
In the 65 years W&J has competed in the PAC Wrestling Championship, only 15 wrestlers have been selected as the Most Outstanding Wrestler/MVP. Hobbs and his teammates won five individual titles at the 1999 championship to become just the fifth Presidents team in history to capture a conference team championship.
Hobbs also succeeded at the NCAA regional tournaments throughout his career as a three-time regional place winner.
