Cheryl Maze ’80 is the 2026 recipients of the Robert M. Murphy Award.
Maze lettered two years for the W&J field hockey program and has been a longtime advocate and supporter of the growth of women’s sports at the college.
As a member of one of the first field hockey teams in college history, Maze and her teammates were part of a group of women who were pioneers for an athletic department which will sponsor 14 NCAA Division III women’s sports during the 2026-27 academic year after women’s wrestling debuts as the college’s latest sport addition.
Maze, a devoted and founding member of Delta Gamma, enjoyed a successful career in banking and the design industry, retiring as a partner and Director of Marketing from a national engineering firm.
She credits her W&J education as an Economics/English major for providing a foundation that allowed her to take the crooked path in her career and experience an array of industries.
